ShoutOuts

A big, huge THANKS to Suze from Miss Vinyl Ahoy for introducing me to her readers... it brought some much appreciated traffic to my blog. Much blog love sent your way, Suze! Check out her ever-so-colorful sense of style by clicking here.

Another HUUUGE thanks to Tieka from Selective Potential for being the very first person to introduce me to anyone out on the interwebs. She sent out a twitter that sent a huge surge of traffic through my site which allowed me to get started on this style journey... thanks a million, Tieka! Her blog is one I've read for ages now, and she's one of my inspirations for starting my own version of a style blog :) Check out her fabulous style here.

Sister Sister

Suggested by Dina :

This outfit was suggested by none other than the Thelma to my Louise, the Ashley to my Mary-Kate, the Tia to my Tamara... my sweet, funny, and oh-so-intelligent little seesterrrrr!
This girl and I were INSEPARABLE for about 23 years of our lives until we were separated by circumstances and by being grown-ups and having to follow our individual career paths. We talk often and keep up with each other and even though we're an ocean apart our love for each other and our camaraderie hasn't been affected in the slightest. I see her about twice a year and we just pick up were we left off, often having so much to talk about that we NEVER get enough of just chitchatting with each other.
This girl is awesome. She's the greatest person I know. I'm not exaggerating. She's so godly and so admired by everyone who surrounds her, she's an inspiration to all of us that have the privilege of being a part of her life. And as you can see, she's got an eye for style, to boot!

Thanks my dearest Dina for putting in your two cents and dressing me for the day!
Love you bunches!
Tu y yo un solo corazon, maquinada! :D

Doing the Robot

Suggested by Sarah of SimpleStyleSecrets :

You can't see it in the pictures, but this top actually has a nice detail on it. It's a golden thread woven throughout the fabric making some nice patterns and making it all sparkly. I think it's so festive, I love it :)

You know when you start a new workout and you're sore the next day so you move around like a robot all day?
That was me today. I started a new video workout program yesterday called 'Insanity' (it really is insane!) and boy, I think this one is going to kick my hiney. I can barely breathe through the whole 40 minute workout.

But at least in this outfit, I was one fabulous robot ;)
Thanks Sarah!

Prim and Proper

Suggested by Shy, Chesterfield:

This Victorian-esque blouse makes me feel very prim and proper. If you read that with a British accent, that'd be Premm and Proppah...(or at least that's how a British accent sounds in my head...)
Which is fitting because today I had a lot of paper shuffling to do in order to get my documents ready to request a Visa at the UK Embassy. Yup, I'm going to London in a few days, and I'm pretty excited about it. It's a work-related trip, but I'll be sure to sneak in as much fun as possible during my time there. I'll only be there for about 10 days but hopefully I can squeeze in a few fun activites. So now you see why I'm brushing up on my British :)
Btw, sorry about the horrible lighting in these pics, I'm still trying to get the hang of self-portraits with my nifty point-and-shoot camera. Oh how I long for the day when I can splurge on a fancy camera and then I'll feel like a REAL blogger :) But for now, I'll do what I can with what I've got.

This outfit clearly exemplifies my motive for starting this blog. I would've never thought to pair an outfit with 4 different colors (white, beige, brown, and gray) all worn together. And I most definitely would've NEVER paired white and beige together... however, it seems to workout when it's all put together. Awesome! My style horizons are already expanding!
Thanks Shy for such a great suggestion :D

Happy Labor Day

Suggested by Shy, Chesterfield:

Today was the first day back at work after a long weekend, since Monday was Labor Day here in Angola. I spent half the weekend with a bad stomach bug but then I bounced back and spent the next half lounging around, visiting relatives, eating too much (hey, I had to make up for the nutrients I lost during my bad spell) and re-tightening my locs (can you see the fruit of my labor in the last pic?)
It was really hard to get going again after such a relaxing weekend, but the good news is that this week is super short (already only 3 days left!) and then it's back to lounging or whatever weekend activity I can come up with. I LOVE national holidays! :D
